The hard parts
- I cleaned up account selection, package choices, multilingual templates, FAQs, job aids, and the messages that show up when something goes wrong.
- I helped set shared patterns so Red Hat brand and PatternFly felt like one system: tables, filters, alerts, the works.
- I explained “what’s happening” without dumping infrastructure jargon on the user when data was late or incomplete.
- The product was powerful and a little intimidating if you didn’t live in the systems behind it.
- Backend changes kept affecting loading, validation, and whether people trusted what they saw.
- Different teams wanted different things at once: more data, more speed, more flexibility, more simplicity.
- I got better at thinking past single screens and into how the whole product hangs together.
- I’m more willing to challenge the first request when it would make the experience harder for the person using it.
- I use AI tools to explore options faster, then I still check the work against real standards and real users’ needs.
